Salman Khan’s action drama Sikandar appears to be faltering at the domestic box office, with collections on Day 5 crashing to just Rs 5.75 crore, falling well below industry expectations.
The film, which released on a Sunday—one day ahead of the Eid holiday—started strong with an estimated Rs 26 crore. It saw a slight boost on Eid with earnings touching Rs 29 crore. However, momentum slowed drastically in the days that followed. On Tuesday, Sikandar earned approximately Rs 19.5 crore, dropping further to Rs 9.75 crore on Wednesday. Thursday saw the lowest numbers so far, bringing the total domestic earnings to an estimated Rs 90 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
Despite the underwhelming performance reported by trade analysts, the film’s producers have claimed a more optimistic picture. In a social media post, they reported Sikandar’s gross earnings at Rs 158.5 crore globally. According to their figures, Day 1 brought in Rs 35.47 crore from India and Rs 19.25 crore overseas. The Eid holiday reportedly added Rs 39.37 crore, with another Rs 11.80 crore from international markets. Day 3 and Day 4 saw gross collections of Rs 35.26 crore and Rs 17.35 crore, respectively.

“Your love and support mean everything to us, #Sikandar is soaring because of YOU! Thank you,” the makers posted in gratitude to fans.
Despite the upbeat tone from the producers, actual occupancy figures suggest a tepid audience response. Thursday recorded an overall Hindi occupancy rate of just 8.24%, with morning shows averaging a mere 4.74% and night shows slightly better at 10.68%.
With the film now inching towards the Rs 100 crore mark, it risks becoming one of Salman Khan’s lower-grossing ventures in recent years. Trade experts had projected significantly higher returns for Sikandar, especially following the blockbuster performance of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which is nearing Rs 600 crore after a 50-day theatrical run.
The coming days will be crucial in determining whether Sikandar can recover or continue its downward trajectory.
