In men’s action, Saskatchewan pulled of back-to-back wins, defeating the Cougars 6-3 on Friday, as well as 7-2 on Saturday.
Playing in Regina on Friday, the hometown team scored first, but the Huskies held a 3-2 after the opening period thanks to a pair of goals from Chantz Petruic and a single from Ty Prefontaine.

Parker Gavlas added the lone goal of the second period to put the Dogs up 4-2, while Chase Bertholet and Vince Loschiavo each scored once in the third to help earn the victory.
In net, Jordan Kooy made 16 saves on 19 shots for Saskatchewan, while Adam Evanoff went 27 for 33 for Regina.
The following night, while in Saskatoon, the Cougars led 1-0 after the first period, but the Huskies picked up five goals in the second, including one each from Ty Prefontaine, Carter Stebbings and Petruic, while Loschiavo added a pair.
In the final period, Cade Hayes and Petruic scored to help Saskatchewan to a convincing win.
Roddy Ross was in net for the Huskies, stopping 20 of 22 shots, while Jackson Fellner went 12 for 19 for Regina.
Meanwhile, the Huskie women started the weekend series at home on Friday, picking up their second victory of the season with a 3-1 win.
Saskatchewan scored the first three scores of the game with Shelby Williamson and Bronwyn Boucher netting goals in the first period, while Avery Gottselig did the same in the second.
Colby Wilson only allowed a single goal passed her in net for the Huskies, stopping 31 shots overall, while her Cougars’ counterpart Arden Kliewer made 10 saves on 13 shots.

Unfortunately, Saskatchewan’s winning ways didn’t continue into its Saturday game in Regina, as the Huskies fell 4-1.
Gottselig had the lone goal for the Huskies.
Colby Wilson stopped 25 of 29 shots in net for the visiting team, while Natalie Williamson made 18 saves on 19 shots in front of a hometown crowd.
BASKETBALL
The women’s team increased its winning streak to eight games on the weekend after sweeping the visiting Mount Royal University Cougars.
On Saturday, the teams were close after the first half, but the Huskies outscored the Cougars 45-24 in the final two quarters to claim an 80-55 win, with Gage Grassick scoring a game-high 21 points.
The night before, Saskatchewan trailed 18-17 after the first period, but fought back to lead 40-29 by halftime, on route to winning 82-51.
Courtney Primeau had the most points for either team in that game with 17.
The men’s team was on the opposite side of the sweep, falling in both of its games against Mount Royal.
A strong first half for the Cougars in Friday’s game carried them through to an 85-73 victory.
On Saturday, the U of S led 52-49 after three quarters, but MRU dominated the final quarter 33-17 to claim the 82-69 win.

Emmanuel Bonsu led the Dogs in both games, scoring a game-high 26 points in the former and a team-high 16 points in the latter.
VOLLEYBALL
In Calgary to take on the Dinos, the men’s and women’s teams each won both of their weekend games.
Isaiah Mamer had 21 kills for the men’s team on Friday, helping Saskatchewan to a 3-1 (20-25, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-18) win, and followed that up with another 19 on Saturday, as the team posted a 3-2 (23-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-18 and 15-11) win.
In women’s action, the Huskies won 3-1 (11-25, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-15) on Friday, before sweeping the Dinos 3-0 (25-14, 25-17 and 25-21) on Saturday.
Taryn Hannanh led the team in kills on both nights, with 14 and 15, respectively.
