Chelsea Green has become the first ever Women’s United States Champion in WWE history at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The 33-year-old wrestler looked overjoyed as she beat longtime friend and rival Michin – AKA Mia Yim – in thrilling bout during this weekend’s massive show.

She is the inaugural US Champ for the women’s division on SmackDown, as the company has finally introduced midcard titles for its female performers.

After all the exceptional work she’s been doing since she’s been rehired, Chelsea Green without a doubt deserves this moment. #SNME,’ wrote @infamousvishnu on X.

‘Miss Chelsea Green deserves everything…♥️#SNME,’ added @HugoFdez_27, while @realtepozz tweeted: ‘From being injured, to being fired, to being the first U.S. women’s champion. Congratulations Chelsea Green.’

Chelsea was released from WWE alongside her husband Matt Cardona in April 2021, several months after suffering a broken wrist in her SmackDown debut.

She returned to WWE in January 2023 at the Royal Rumble, and has become one of the most entertaining parts of any show she’s on.

En route to glory, she first beat Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in a triple threat, before upsetting Bayley in the semi-final to set up a bout with Michin in the final.

There is a similar tournament currently ongoing to crown a Women’s Intercontinental Champion for Raw, with Dakota Kai and Lyra Valkyria in the semis and the likes of Kairi Sane, Natalya and Zoey Stark awaiting their first round matches.

In the second bout of the night, the Women’s World Championship was on the line as Liv Morgan managed to beat Iyo Sky to retain in one of the best matches of her reign.

In a frantic and physical Triple Threat, GUNTHER was able to outlast former Judgment Day teammates turned rivals Damian Priest and Finn Balor to gold onto the gold.

When is WWE moving to Netflix?

WWE is switching over to Netflix from January 2025, and for UK fans that’ll be from the get-go on New Year’s Day.

The official move is the January 6 episode of Monday Night Raw (for US fans, that’s the only show heading to Netflix right now) – for us Brits, it’s a real game changer.
